Workplace Daycare Centers

In many households today, either both parents work or there is a single parent situation. In both cases, it is important to find a place where children are well taken care of, what's more, where they actually have a chance of learning and developing their skills. In response to that need, many companies have established workplace daycare centers, as a benefit for employees, who will certainly be more productive knowing that their children are being properly looked after, and more importantly, near them.

In order to get an idea of how complex and elaborate these daycare centers are, let's consider a few examples, such as Pfizer Kids. Located at the pharmaceutical company's research facility in Groton, Connecticut, this childcare facility was completed in 2000 and comprises 37,000 square feet that include living room areas, community spaces, a concrete amphitheater, a playground, and more. Not only do kids have an opportunity to engage in gross motor play and large group activities, but they probably also have access to the best pharmacy possible, in case they get sick. Seriously though, Pfizer Kids is one of the reasons for this companies success, thanks to the peace of mind that it offers its employees.

While not rivaling the 348 children capacity of the Viagra maker's daycare center, the smaller (6,800 square feet) Procter & Gamble's childcare facility is not without its charms. Completed in 2004, it is located in a densely wooded area on the company's Manufacturing Campus in Albany, Georgia. The southern comfort of the state is not lost on the buildings, meant to be a home away from home for both children and staff. Combining the quaintness of a farm ranch with the modernity of the 21st century, children from 3 months to 12 years can be safely accommodated within the premises, including overnight care for the kids of employees on the graveyard shift.
